Taste of Honolulu

We had 4 hours between our flight landing in honolulu, and our next next one heading off to LA, so we decided to go hard for a taste of Honolulu.

Our first little taste of Hawaii was just before we landed. Even though we nobly saw clouds, we imagined it was land.

We briefly hit waikikia beach

And we had so much fun exploring

I love talking with Locals and tourists, hearing their stories, their pain and joy, and what gives them hope.
On the shuttle ride back to the airport we experienced a microcosm of American life.
The young couple from North Carolina on their honeymoon, and a serviceman on leave with his wife and young girl proved a unique insight to people’s hopes and dreams.
Once everyone on the shuttle knew this young man was in the military, one could sense the mood in the shuttle changed to awe and respect for this young man.
Regardless of my own position on the war, it blew me away, and inspired me, to see such respect.

Then it was time to jump on the plane, once they had changed a flat tyre first. Never had to wait for that before.

Looking forward to going back to Hawaii in a couple of weeks time.
