For those who have experienced a tour stage, I won’t be saying anything new.
The carnival of floats and vehicles that drive past ahead of the tour is just amazing. It is entertainment in its own right. Even more entertaining is seeing how keen people are to grab the free trinkets on offer from the floats that go by. The lengths they go to are amazing. So after standing for 90- minutes by the side of the road, they riders come flashing by, and then it is all over.
I knew they were close for 2 reasons. One was because of txt messages from Australia saying where they were. Had no idea otherwise. The other is the sound of helicopters overhead.
There had been a sole breakaway

But he was picked up quickly not long after he picked us up

The speed with which they travel is amazing. And the size of the bunch just blows you away. Even they guys trailing get huge applause. It is quit an amazing sight.
Narelle picked a great spot halfway up a steep pinch. From there we got to see the team vans come in (via a different road).
And then it was off to St. Malo for the evening.
This is where I got to dump’n’go for the first time. Had to empty the waste water (easy), the toilet (nowhere near as bad as I thought), and refill the water. All too simple really.
